She also will have operational and financial accountability for cancer services.

John D. Hundt has been named administrator for the Hopkins Department of Surgery, replacing Joan Magruder, who held that position for seven years before accepting the position of vice president of business development, planning and marketing at BJC HealthCare (Barnes-Jewish) in St. Louis, Mo.

Langbaumís career at Hopkins spans 25 years. She joined Hopkins in 1975 as coordinator of The Johns Hopkins Childrenís Centerís Cystic Fibrosis Center. During her 19-year tenure with the Department of Pediatrics, Langbaum held a number of progressively important administrative posts. Among her accomplishments at the Childrenís Center were a highly successful clinical practice plan for pediatrics and integration of pediatric specialists into a single enterprise. She also served as an internal operations consultant during the construction and start-up of the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, and more recently managed Hopkins USA, the service to facilitate patient access to Johns Hopkins. As director of hospital affiliations, Langbaum managed more than 140 clinical contracts with regional hospitals.

Langbaum, a resident of Lutherville, Md., holds a bachelorís degree in management and a masterís degree in administrative science, both from The Johns Hopkins University.

Hundt joined Hopkins in 1990 as a lead financial analyst for the health system. After leaving Hopkins in 1991 to become assistant controller for the Alvarado Hospital Medical Center in San Diego, Calif., Hundt took the position of chief financial officer for the San Diego Rehabilitation Institute. He rejoined Hopkins in 1994 as director of business development within the Department of Planning and Marketing and was promoted to senior director in 2000. In this role, Hundt was responsible for a wide range of business analysis to support the components of Johns Hopkins Medicine, including multi-year volume and growth projections and business planning.

Hundt lives in Baltimore City. He received a bachelorís degree in business administration from Texas A&M University and his masterís of health science degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in 1992.
