Kenneth Grant has been named vice president of general services for The Johns Hopkins Hospital. In this position, Grant will be responsible for hospital materials management, central sterile services, mail services, patient escort, the print shop/copy center, linen services, nutrition services, and environmental services. He will report to senior vice president of operations, Judy Reitz, Sc.D.
Grant also will retain his current position as senior director of the Johns Hopkins Health System's (JHHS) materials management and distribution center, where he will continue to report to Colene Y. Daniel, JHHS vice president for corporate services.
"Ken has an impressive track record in building cohesive teams, and promoting staff development and positive patient and employee relations, and is well prepared to assume his new role," said Ronald R. Peterson, president of Johns Hopkins Health System and The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
A resident of Columbia, Md., Grant came to Hopkins in 1992 to direct its general services operation.
Prior to joining Hopkins, Grant was director of materials and equipment management at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. He holds a bachelor of science in business administration from Tulane University in New Orleans and is a degree candidate in the masters of science program in management at the University of Maryland at College Park. He is very active in his community, serving on the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America, and is a graduate of the Howard County Leadership Program.
