New Valet Parking Service at Hopkins

Visitors and patients coming to the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center should find the trip a little easier thanks to a valet parking service that began Nov. 10. The service, which guarantees users will have their cars retrieved within five minutes, is designed to make visits to the modern Outpatient Center more convenient.

Hours of operation for the service are Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service adds $5.00 to the regular parking rate.

"It's all part of Hopkins Medicine's emphasis on elevating its services up to the standard of its health care," says parking director Larry Cohen, who once owned a valet parking service and introduced valet parking at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania before coming to Baltimore.

According to Joseph R. Coppola, Johns Hopkins Medicine's chief of corporate security, parking and transportation services, the Outpatient Center valet program may be expanded to include the Wolfe Street entrance to the main hospital. "Patients' first moments at Hopkins can make all the difference in how they feel about the place," says Coppola. "We want to provide smoother access to Hopkins and a welcoming atmosphere right off the bat."
