Kristine Campbell of Atlanta, a third-year student at The Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine, has been selected as a 1994 Luce Scholar under a
Luce Foundation program designed to create a higher level of understanding of
Asia among young, educated Americans.
Beginning in late August, Campbell will interrupt her medical studies for
about 10 months while she receives briefings about Asia in Princeton, NJ., in
Hong Kong, and on Bali in Indonesia. In between, she will work with an
Indonesia health organization in HIV/AIDS testing and education.
She is scheduled to resume her medical studies at Hopkins in the summer of
1995.
