Joann Rodgers, deputy director of the Office of Public Affairs at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, was re-elected president of the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW). Rodgers, who also is director of media relations for JHMI, has been a member of the national CASW board for more than ten years.

CASW is a non-profit educational corporation run by distinguished journalists and scientists. Its programs are designed to improve the public's understanding of science and technology and to improve relationships between scientists and the press. Among its directors are Nobel laureates Leon Lederman and Roald Hoffmann; the chairman of the American Museum of Natural History and science journalists and editors working for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Associated Press, Popular Science and the journal Nature.
