Margaret Heagarty, M.D., professor of pediatrics at Columbia
University and director
of pediatrics at the Harlem Hospital Center, will speak to Hopkins
faculty members
and staff about how she is coping with the problems of children in an
urban
environment. The lecture is scheduled for Wed., January 5, at 8:30
a.m. in The Johns
Hopkins Hospital's Hurd Hall.
Dr. Heagarty, who has earned a national reputation caring for New York
City's poor
children, will talk about poverty and its impact on injuries, AIDS,
infant mortality
and drug abuse.
Dr. Heagarty will be available for interviews Tues., January 4 between
4 and 6 p.m.
