Jack Faris, president of the National Federation of Independent Business
and a well known critic of President Clinton's proposed health-care reform
plan, will speak at Hopkins' Turner Auditorium on May 10. His talk will focus
on the effects of the plan on American's smaller companies, potential changes
in the job market and overall effects on the economy. The presentation,
sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Medical Student Society, begins at 5:30 p.m. and
is open to the public. An informal reception will follow.
Faris, former finance director for the Republican National Committee in
Washington, D.C., has held positions in banking, construction and political
fund raising. He also was a small-business owner before joining the National
Federation of Independent Business.
