Program Detail
We understand that your illness can affect all aspects of your life. Therefore, the staff works together with you to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
The Morning Session hours are from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
The Afternoon Program Hours are from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
These programs are based on a combination of groups and individual therapy in the context of medical management. The groups will provide the encouragement and structure to address your personal problems. We ask you to listen to and support other patients, and share your concerns with the group.
Food
Meals are NOT provided, so plan to eat a good breakfast/lunch before you arrive. You may purchase a meal here at the hospital or bring it with you. Snacks are available in the kitchen during breaks. If you wish to bring food from home, there is a refrigerator you may use in the kitchen. Please label your food with your name and make sure that it is properly covered. Food will be thrown away in three days if not eaten. Food is not permitted in groups.
Transportation
You can get to the hospital by means of public transportation (buses, subway), taxi, car, or Yellow Van (for MA patients). If you wish to drive you could park in a garage for your convenience you may purchase parking coupons at the MAIN admissions office at the cashiers office or you maybe obtain them from the exit of the Broadway garage. The coupons are sold in book of 5 which are $18.00 and book of 10 for $35.00 this averages out to be $3.50 a day verses $10.00 a day. You may call the parking office for more details. The YELLOW VAN service is available for those who meet the criteria and arrange for this service.
Locker Information
Lockers are available upon request. Please use a locker to store your processions during the day. DO NOT bring large sums of money or valuable objects with you. The Day Hospital staff cannot take responsibility for these items.
Family
We believe it is important to work with you and your family in assisting you to accomplish your treatment.
Grievance Procedure
If there are any concerns or questions about any aspect of your treatment program, you are encouraged to speak with your primary nurse and or the treatment team. If matter is still not resolved with the program. You may call the Patient Representative at 410-955-2273.
Rights and Responsibilities
You will be given an information sheet on admission that details our expectations of patients in the day hospital. This sheet also contains information on your schedule and phone numbers, so you will have a record to refer to.
- You are expected to participate in the program according to the schedule set up with your treatment team. The treatment team expects you will arrive on time everyday.
- If you are unable to attend the program on the scheduled day, please call your primary nurse as soon as you know will be absent at 410-955-2883.
- You are expected to remain in the day area during the day, with the exception of break times.
Sign in and out at the front desk when you arrive and when you leave the Day Hospital area during the day.
- Please be on time for your groups. Being late for groups or leaving early will distract others.
- You are to treat others and their belongings with respect. Verbal and/or physical abuse towards other Patients, staff or visitors will not be tolerated.
- Please respect the "No Smoking" rules in the Hospital and Day Hospital.
- No drug, alcohol, or medications are allowed except those medications ordered by your doctors. Any unauthorized substance use will endanger your standing in the program.
- DO NOT bring any medications to the program unless your doctor or primary nurse asks you to do so. If you do so, you may be asked to leave the program.
- We expect that patients will not to be sexually involved with other patients. Sexual relationships between patients can be disruptive to your treatment plan as well as to others.
- Please see your primary nurse before leaving the Day Hospital.
Discharge Policies
You will be actively involved in planning your discharge from the Program. Discharge readiness can involve:
- Improvement of your symptoms.
- Achievement of your treatment goals planned between you and the treatment team.
- The need to be admitted to an inpatient unit.
- Inability to comply with the Day Hospital Program rules and responsibilities.
